Pregnancy Due Date Calendar

Pregnant woman holding belly in black and white.Every woman is interested in knowing how her baby is growing inside her. The pregnancy due date calendar serves the dual purpose of helping you learn about the way your baby is developing, and calculate the due date of his arrival. The calendar, which is rich in information on all aspects of pregnancy, is based on weekly development of your baby. It contains pictures of different stages of development to help would-be mothers understand the whole process of pregnancy.

Figuring Out the Due Date
There is no way you can calculate the exact date of arrival of your baby. The baby arrives when it is ready. The pregnancy calendar can provide you with as close a date as possible. All you need is to provide just one bit of information to arrive at an almost accurate due date.

Here is how you can use the pregnancy due date calendar. You may type the first date of your last menstrual cycle in the pregnancy calendar. The calendar then does the calculations for you, and comes up with a good deal of useful information including the date you were likely to have conceived, the end of the first trimester, the date to book your first birthing class, the end of the second trimester, and your estimated due date (EDD). If you type the EDD given by your health care provider, the calculator will calculate backwards and come up with the information just mentioned.

Pregnancy Wheel. Some pregnancy calendars are based on the 28-day menstrual cycle. Health care providers go by the lunar calendar and generally refer to a 40-week pregnancy period. An average pregnancy lasts 280 days from the date of the last menstrual cycle. If your baby does not arrive by the EDD, there is no point in worrying, as the arrival of the baby two weeks on either side of the EDD is considered on time.

According to the lunar calendar system, pregnancy is considered to last 40 weeks, 10 lunar months, or 280 days, which corresponds to roughly 9 calendar months. The first day of the woman’s last menstrual period is typically taken as the starting point of pregnancy, but conception takes about two weeks. This means that the actual pregnancy duration is 38 weeks, or 266 days, corresponding to eight and a half months. The German obstetrician, Naegele, developed this rule in the 1800s, which is known as “Naegele’s Rule”.

Naegele used the 28-day menstrual cycle as his base for calculations. A woman who has a 28-day menstrual cycle, and knows the date of the first day of her last normal period, can arrive at the baby’s due date by bringing the Naegele’s rule to use. This roughly corresponds to the 9 months and 7 days rule based on Julian calendar month.

The online pregnancy calendar also known as pregnancy calendar date due calculator is available on a number of websites and provide you host of valuable information related to pregnancy, childbirth and the development of you baby. A pregnancy due date calendar may allow calculations based on both rules. You can use whichever you fancy, or try both. You will see that the estimated delivery date in both cases is more or less the same.
