Useful Information on First Response Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy test result, 2 pink lines. You may have just missed your period and suspect that you are pregnant. If you do not wish to visit the clinic for a pregnancy test because of time constraints or other reasons, you can perform the first response pregnancy test from the comforts of your home. You can achieve a first response pregnancy test accuracy of up to 99%. More information on first response pregnancy test is placed below.

How does a home pregnancy test work?

Soon after a woman conceives, hormonal changes take place in her body. You body produces high quantities of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to prepare for childbirth. Since your body has high concentrations of this hormone, home pregnancy tests try to detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. The first response test kit contains special antibodies that are capable of detecting small traces of hCG in your urine. These antibodies bond with the pregnancy hormone, hCG, if they are present in the urine.

First Response Pregnancy Test. The home pregnancy test kit contains a stick with an absorbent material fixed to one of the ends. That end is placed under the urine stream for about five seconds. After the stick absorbs the urine you should cap it and place the test stick on a flat surface with the result window side up. The first response pregnancy test result takes about three minutes to appear.

It takes just about that much time for the results to process. If the test results are positive, the window should continue to display the result for a minimum of 48 hours. If the second line does not appear in the result window by about ten minutes, the result is negative. However, you may try a first response pregnancy test review by repeating the test in a week’s time to confirm your pregnancy.

First Response Pregnancy Test Accuracy

You can achieve an accuracy of up to 99% with the first response pregnancy test. Your pregnancy can be tested four days prior to the expected date of your next period. However, the test results will be low on accuracy (69%). If you take the test three days before the expected date of your next period, you are likely to achieve results that are 83% accurate. A test done one to two days before the expected date of your next period will yield a 93% accurate result. On the expected date of the period or thereafter the test result accuracy increases to 99%.

Inaccuracy in the First Response Pregnancy Test Result

The first response pregnancy test has a very high degree of accuracy. However, some factors may lead to your tests showing inaccurate results. Some of these factors for inaccurate test results are:

  • The test is based on your expected date of the next period. If the due date of the period is miscalculated inaccuracies are bound to appear.
  • You may be taking some medication that contains hCG as one of its ingredients. In this case, your tests will not produce accurate results
  • Your test stick tip may not have been properly saturated.
  • Over saturating the test stick too may result in inaccuracies.
The first response pregnancy tests return a highly accurate result. You can rely upon this test for accuracy, and to save your time, money and hassle to visit the clinic.
